There is a certain
sensibility
about Volvos that has always appealed to me. That, and plenty of
glass
... There was a time when one of the design aims in an automobile was to enjoy looking out the window and watching the country go by. Nowadays, we’re peering out through gun slits in isolation.

After three years with the 142 I can confirm that everything seems solid, sensible and durable. Lots of room inside as well with the minimalistic interior. And as you said, the way that you can see that much more than in new cars really adds to the driving experience.

I view a sedan as a place for a group of adults to sit comfortably and enjoy a ride. Aerodynamics, fuel efficiency and jingoism have put us at a remove from those ideas.
